Sabah polls: DAP to announce logo choice and candidates on Nov 9

SANDAKAN - Voters will soon know if DAP will contest the coming Sabah election under its own logo or Pakatan Harapan’s, with the party set to announce its candidates this Saturday (Nov 9).

Sabah DAP deputy chairman Datuk Chan Foong Hin said the party is fully prepared and dismissed suggestions of last-minute decisions.

"If we can make the announcement, that means we are ready. So, there’s no issue of hectic last-minute decisions," he said during the Program Santuni Pekebun Kecil Sandakan here on Wednesday (Nov 5).

Chan said the candidate announcements will be made in Kota Kinabalu.

Asked if DAP would use its own logo or Pakatan's, he replied: "You'll know soon."

Chan, who is also Kota Kinabalu MP, said the party is confident with its support in the state seats under Sandakan, saying that they remain a strong base for it, with DAP holding the parliamentary seat since 2018.

Chan also visited the Madani Community service centre at Kampung Sim-Sim, saying grassroots engagement has been ongoing throughout the year.

"The people of Sandakan can judge the works of DAP here for themselves," he added.

The state seats under Sandakan are Tanjong Papat and Elopura.

Both were won by DAP, but the assemblymen have left the party.

Datuk Frankie Poon Ming Fung (Tanjong Papat) has yet to join another party, while Calvin Chong Ket Kiun (Elopura) is now with Parti Warisan. - THE STAR
