After receiving more than 35 submissions from a diverse range of applicants, two artists were selected for the programme: Penang-based full-time painter Amir Mansor, known for his abstract works and exploration of mark-making, and Selangor artist Noor Zahran, whose practice blends 3D compositing with hyper-realistic illustrative techniques.

Throughout the programme, both residents were guided by celebrated senior artists Ramlan Abdullah and Ahmad Fuad Osman, who offered mentorship, insight, and artistic support.

“Residensi Kijang is an exciting step forward for BNM MAG and the local arts scene. It offers young artists the opportunity to develop their creative potential, engage with BNM MAG’s collections and receive the support, mentorship and exposure needed to refine and advance their artistic journeys.

“We hope RisiK Unveiling will not only inspire these artists but also lay the foundation for future generations of creatives to thrive,” said BNM MAG Director Noreen Zulkepli.

The RisiK Unveiling highlighted how both artists responded to BNM MAG’s rich collections and exhibitions, weaving their personal narratives into the work produced during their residency.

Their showcase, now displayed at the SukaReka Art Gallery on Level 3, is open to the public from Nov 9 until Dec 14.

Attendees are welcome to explore the exhibition and witness the artistic progression of Amir and Zahran’s work, offering a window into Malaysia’s future creative leaders.
