KUALA LUMPUR - Local rapper Namewee and the late Taiwanese influencer Hsieh Yun Hsi had a "special relationship", police say.
"They are friends and they have other relationships that I will not get into," city police chief Comm Datuk Fadil Marsus said when met after a Deepavali celebration at contingent headquarters here on Tuesday (Nov 11).
"I do not need to reveal the full extent, but it is a 'special' relationship."
He added that her body has yet to be claimed, and police were still awaiting the toxicology report.
"That will take time. We will determine our suggestions to the deputy public prosecutor in the near future," he said.
Hsieh was found dead in a hotel room in the city on Oct 22.
Her death was initially said to be a Sudden Death Report, but police reclassified it as murder on Nov 4.
Investigations revealed that Namewee, whose real name is Wee Meng Chee, was the last person seen with the 31-year-old victim in a room at a hotel here at about 1.40 pm on Oct 22.
He was arrested for possession and use of drugs, but released after claiming trial to drug-related charges at the Jalan Duta Court on Oct 24.
He showed up voluntarily at Dang Wangi district police headquarters on Nov 5 to help with the murder investigation and was subsequently detained.
He was remanded for six days initially, but police obtained a three-day extension yesterday until Thursday (Nov 13). - THE STAR
