KOTA KINABALU – Parti Warisan (Warisan) Information Chief Datuk Mohd Azis Jamman rejected claims that local parties in Sabah are trying to cultivate anti-Peninsular or anti-Malaya sentiments.
Azis said the people and leaders of Sabah’s local parties love Malaysia and that claims of anti-Peninsular sentiment are unfounded.
He explained that when they promote the importance of supporting local parties, it is only to demand Sabah’s rights, not to oppose the rest of the country.
Azis also emphasised their love towards Malaysia and compared the situation to Sarawak, which also demands its rights but is never labelled anti-Peninsular.
He added that changing political dynamics in Sabah have led to these misunderstandings.
"People in Sabah are more inclined to choose and hope that Sabah is led by an 'original' Sabah party that understands Sabah better," he said.
In this regard, Azis expressed hope that such claims will be stopped.
Earlier, Umno Sabah Information Chief Datuk Suhaimi Nasir stated that some parties are attempting to instil anti-Peninsular or anti-Malaya sentiment to show Sabah’s strength.
