KOTA BHARU - Flights bound for the Sultan Ismail Petra Airport (LTSIP) in Kota Bharu here are mostly not affected despite the state grappling with the flood situation.
Malaysia Airports Sdn Bhd chief operations officer Kamaruzzaman Razali, in confirming this, said all scheduled flights are operating as usual, and without any significant delays.
"However, last night there was one Air Asia flight AK6430 from Kuala Lumpur to Kota Bharu, which was scheduled to arrive at 8.30pm, had to be diverted to Penang due to adverse weather conditions. It, however, later landed safely in Kota Bharu at 11.30pm.
"Other than that, there have been no flight delays, thus far, although some parts around Kota Bharu are experiencing rising water levels. The runways, so far, are also safe, with no hindrances,” he told Bernama today.
Kamaruzzaman said they will continue to monitor the weather conditions from time to time to ensure the safety aspect is at the highest level.
He added that any changes to flight schedules would be announced through the respective airline companies' official channels.
