MetMalaysia issues midday severe weather alert for several states in Peninsula, Sabah

In Sabah, severe weather is forecast for parts of Sandakan (Telupid, Kinabatangan, Beluran and Sandakan) as well as Kudat.

KUALA LUMPUR - Malaysia’s Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) today issued a thunderstorm warning for several areas in Peninsular Malaysia and Sabah, effective until 1pm.

In a statement, the agency said thunderstorms, heavy rain and strong winds are expected in Pahang (Bera); Selangor (Klang, Petaling, Kuala Langat, Hulu Langat and Sepang); the Federal Territories of Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya; and Negeri Sembilan (Jelebu, Seremban, Kuala Pilah and Jempol).

In Sabah, severe weather is forecast for parts of Sandakan (Telupid, Kinabatangan, Beluran and Sandakan) as well as Kudat.

In a separate advisory, MetMalaysia reported the formation of a tropical depression detected at 8 am today about 219 kilometres northeast of Gingoog City in the Philippines, and moving west at 10 km/h with maximum winds of 56 km/h.
