KUALA LUMPUR - Residents at two apartment blocks in Taman United, Seputeh, were ordered to evacuate after ground movement caused by a landslide on a nearby slope this morning.

Seputeh Fire and Rescue Station chief, Deputy Superintendent II Armdan Mahat, said they received an emergency call at 11.02 am reporting a slope collapse stretching about 60 metres.

He said the incident affected two cars and several motorcycles, with one vehicle completely buried.

"The landslide entered the apartment compound, and following discussions with the Seputeh MP’s Office and Kuala Lumpur City Hall engineers, two blocks involving 104 residential units and nearby premises were ordered to evacuate due to ongoing soil movement and heavy rain,” he said in a statement.

No casualties have been reported. Fire and rescue personnel remain on site to monitor further ground movement.

A total of 11 firefighters were deployed along with a Fire Rescue Tender (FRT) and a utility vehicle. - BERNAMA
