KUCHING - A total of 18 schools in Sarawak have been equipped with closed-circuit television (CCTV) systems, the Sarawak State Assembly was told today.
Sarawak Deputy Minister for Education, Innovation and Talent Development Datuk Francis Harden Hollis said the State Education Department (JPNS) has been allocated RM270,000 for the purpose, with each school receiving RM15,000 for the installation of CCTV systems.
"JPNS will submit an application to the Ministry of Education for additional funds to support the procurement and expansion of CCTV installation.
"This initiative aims to enhance safety and strengthen monitoring systems in schools under JPNS’ jurisdiction," he said.
He was responding to a question from Adam Yii Siew Sang (GPS-Pujut), who wanted to know how much funding had been channelled and how many schools in Sarawak were involved in the CCTV installation initiative. - BERNAMA
