KOTA KINABALU - Sabah Perikatan Nasional (PN) chairman Datuk Seri Ronald Kiandee has lost in the seven-cornered contest for the Sugut state seat in the Sabah state election on Saturday.
As of 7pm, Ronald secured 1,406 votes, trailing behind Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) heavyweight Datuk James Ratib, who obtained 2,135 votes.
Warisan’s candidate, Aspah Abdullah Sani, received 559 votes, while Barisan Nasional’s Mohammad Arifin Pachuk garnered 438 votes.
The Sugut seat has a total of 18,435 registered voters.

Media reports noted that Ronald’s contest in Sugut marks his return to the seat after 35 years; he last contested there in 1990, where he was defeated in a five-cornered fight by Parti Bersatu Sabah candidate Jublee Zen.
