KOTA KINABALU - Supporters at Sri Gaya cheer loudly as Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) appears on the screen leading in 29 seats, creating an energetic atmosphere at the compound of the Chief Minister’s official residence.
Earlier, GRS supporters and media personnel had gathered there to await both the early vote count and the official results of the Sabah state election.
Based on unofficial results as of 10pm, GRS held the strongest lead, followed by Parti Warisan (Warisan) with 15 seats and Barisan Nasional (BN) with six.
Pakatan Harapan (PH) was leading in two state constituencies, Sindumin and Melalap, while the United Progressive Kinabalu Organisation (UPKO), the Parti Kesejahteraan Demokratik Masyarakat (KDM) and Parti Solidariti Tanah Airku each secured one seat in Kadamaian, Paginatan and Tambunan respectively.
Independent candidates were also ahead in five constituencies: Petagas, Kukusan, Tulid, Pintasan and Bandau.
