Masidi won with 7,081 votes, while Jamawi won the eight-cornered fight with 5,064 votes.

KOTA KINABALU - Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) candidate Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun has officially won the Karanaan seat in the Sabah State Election on Saturday.

Masidi won with 7,081 votes, defeating six other challengers: Anuar Ghani Gilong @ Philip (STAR Sabah), Mukinin @ Mazlan Daiman (Warisan), Karim Adam (KDM), Md Nadzmin Kamin (Barisan Nasional), Georgina George (UPKO) and Naomi @ Neomi Francis (Independent).

Back in 2020, Masidi won the Karanaan state seat in the 16th Sabah State Election, contesting under the Perikatan Nasional banner and defeating three other challengers. He secured 6,696 votes, achieving a large majority of 4,814 votes in the four-cornered fight for the seat.

Meanwhile, the Pakatan Harapan (PH) candidate Datuk Jamawi Jaafar also secured an official victory in the Melalap seat.

Jamawi won the eight-cornered fight with 5,064 votes, leading the other challengers: Priscella Peter (KDM), Alviana Linus (STAR Sabah), Cheld Lind (Warisan), Junik Bajit (UPKO), Kevin Chong (PIS), Gabriel George Tulas (Independent), and Fatimah Ibrahim (Independent).

Jamawi lost the Melalap state seat in the 2020 Sabah State Election (PRN16), where he contested under the BN (Umno) ticket. He finished second in the six-cornered contest, securing 3,526 votes and being defeated by Peter Anthony from Warisan.
