SHAH ALAM – Sabah PKR has expressed confidence that Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) president Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor will be appointed as Sabah’s next Chief Minister following his strong showing in the state polls.
Sabah PKR leadership council chairman Datuk Mustapha Sakmud said the party was prepared to support the formation of the next state government and fully back Hajiji’s leadership.
“We have already issued our media statement. We are ready to be part of the new state administration to be formed, and we fully support Hajiji as the incoming Chief Minister, insyaAllah.
“We are confident that the appointment will be made soon, and that it will be Hajiji,” he said.
Hajiji clinched an unofficial win in the Sulaman state seat, reinforcing his decades-long grip on the constituency.
He has represented Sulaman since 1990 and last defended it with a majority of 3,099 votes in a three-cornered contest.
Across Sabah, 882 polling centres and 3,558 polling streams opened at 7.30am as voters turned out to decide the state’s political direction.
