KUALA LUMPUR - As the only MP of Orang Asli descent, Datuk Ramli Mohd Nor (BN-Cameron Highlands) has asked to be included in the process of drafting policies related to upcoming amendments to the Aboriginal Peoples Act 1954.
The Star reported that Ramli, who is also the Deputy Speaker of the Dewan Rakyat, said his involvement would allow him to contribute in terms of policy drafting and providing input on the administrative affairs of the community.
"I am making this request as the only MP of Orang Asli descent from the Peninsula and who is involved in drafting the laws of this country," he said before commencing parliamentary proceedings on Thursday (Dec 4).
On that note, he asked to be included in the Parliamentary Special Select Committee (PSSC) involved in drafting policies related to the amendments.
Ramli has asked to join the PSSCs for human rights, election and institutional reform; infrastructure, transportation and communication; and international relations and international trade.
