Pilot, trainee injured as light aircraft crashes

The aircraft was reported to have experienced engine failure and was forced to make an emergency landing in an open area near the airport.

TAIPING – A pilot and a trainee were injured after the light aircraft they were in crashed in an open area near Tekah Airport here on Sunday.

Taiping District Police Chief Assistant Commissioner Mohamad Nasir Ismail confirmed that they received information about the incident involving a microlight aircraft at around 10.30am, following a call received through the NG MERSS 999 system.

He said the aircraft was reported to have experienced engine failure and was forced to make an emergency landing in an open area near the airport.

"Upon receiving the information, a team of police personnel was dispatched to the scene to conduct monitoring and initial assessment.

"Both victims, men aged 46 and 40, were taken to Taiping Hospital for further treatment and are in stable condition," he said in a statement on Monday.

He added that police are conducting continuous monitoring, including coordinating information with relevant agencies to ensure effective risk control measures and the safety of nearby residents.

A video of the incident went viral on social media, showing members of the public attempting to assist the victims immediately after the crash.
