Outstanding summonses and eligibility for the Budi95 subsidy are two separate mechanisms that operate independently and are not automatically linked.

KUALA LUMPUR - Failure to settle outstanding summonses does not affect eligibility for the Budi Madani RON95 petrol subsidy (Budi95), said Transport Minister Anthony Loke.

He said outstanding summonses and eligibility for the Budi95 subsidy are two separate mechanisms that operate independently and are not automatically linked.

"Under the current policy, applicants must meet the basic requirements to apply for or continue receiving the Budi95 subsidy, namely being a Malaysian citizen verified through the MyKad and holding a valid driving licence.

"A valid licence refers to one that is still within its validity period or has expired for no more than three years,” he said in a statement

Loke also advised the public to continue complying with traffic laws to ensure the safety of all road users.

Earlier today, several portals reported claims that individuals who failed to pay their summonses would lose their Budi95 eligibility. - BERNAMA
