Magnitude 4.9 quake jolts Japan's Ibaraki Prefecture, no tsunami warning

An earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 4.9 struck Ibaraki Prefecture in eastern Japan at 7.05 pm (local time) on Friday, according to the Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA).

The temblor, at a depth of about 50 kilometres, registered an intensity of four on Japan’s seismic scale of seven.
