SHAH ALAM - Media personality and television host Ceddy Ang has made his official music debut with the release of his first single, "Selangkah", which highlights themes of emotional recovery, self-growth and perseverance.
Written by award-winning singer-songwriter Amir Jahari, the song was produced following an in-depth conversation between the two, focusing on Ceddy’s life journey, personal experiences and emotional challenges that are often unseen behind his public persona.
Ceddy said he never planned to step into music. It all started by accident, when he took vocal classes simply to sharpen his hosting skills, only to find himself drawn into a whole new path.
"I started taking vocal classes with the intention of improving my voice control for hosting purposes. However, throughout the learning process with Cikgu Shafi (voice strategist), I began to realise a deeper interest in singing. From there, the desire to try my hand in music slowly grew. Step by step.
"Selangkah, features contemporary pop sounds infused with a soft, nostalgic citypop element, creating an introspective and emotional atmosphere.
"The lyrics address feelings of restlessness, loneliness despite being surrounded by people and the importance of forgiving oneself to continue life’s journey.
"This song is not about perfection. It is about accepting mistakes, learning from them and continuing to walk even if the step is small," he said.
Ceddy added that the single also aims to deliver a message of hope, emphasising that individuals progress through life at different paces and that moving slowly is acceptable as long as one keeps going.
Known for his honest and bold communication style, Ceddy said "Selangkah" marks the beginning of a new artistic phase as he introduces a more introspective side of himself through music.
The single will be available on all major digital streaming platforms, including Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube Music and YouTube on Dec 26.
