KANGAR - Sanglang state assemblyman Mohd Shukri Ramli announced that he has voluntarily resigned as the Perlis Menteri Besar due to health reasons, with immediate effect.
He said he had been granted an audience with the Ruler of Perlis earlier in the afternoon, during which he conveyed his intention to step down as menteri besar.
“Firstly, I would like to inform that I was granted an audience with His Royal Highness the Raja of Perlis, Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin Jamalullail, this afternoon, during which I conveyed my intention to resign as Menteri Besar on a voluntary basis, taking into consideration my health condition.
“I have already submitted my letter of resignation to His Royal Highness earlier today. Therefore, I would like to take this opportunity to record my appreciation to the entire Perlis state government administration,” he said.
He also expressed his heartfelt thanks to the entire state government administration and the people of Perlis for their strong cooperation throughout his tenure as Menteri Besar.
Mohd Shukri was the 11th Menteri Besar of Perlis, appointed on Nov 22, 2022, and the first politician from the Perikatan Nasional (PN) coalition to successfully take over the state administration from Barisan Nasional (BN) after 65 years of rule in Perlis.
