SHAH ALAM – Jellybean, the well-loved influencer cat from Johan And His Cats, passes away suddenly on Nov 25, leaving fans and followers mourning the loss of one of Malaysia’s most recognisable feline personalities on social media.
The news was shared by owner Johan Eskandar Mohd Najib through an Instagram post after more than a month of keeping the matter private.
He said Jellybean died unexpectedly despite being in good health and showing no signs of illness.
“While Jellybean was healthy, had just finished playing and eating, Allah took her. It was a very sudden incident.
“Jellybean was not just a cat, she was Johan’s princess, Johan’s baby and everyone’s princess,” he said.
Johan also shared closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage related to the incident and said he chose to accept Jellybean’s passing with an open and accepting heart.
The 10-year-old cat was widely known for appearing in several commercial advertisements, including for airline brand AirAsia, which helped cement her status as one of the most famous local cats on social media.
Johan further revealed that Jellybean’s death occurred just days before his birthday on Tuesday.
“Tomorrow is Johan’s birthday and this time Jellybean is no longer here.
“To stay strong, Johan has decided to go to the Holy Land again and continue praying. Insya-Allah, when Johan returns, Johan will be more spirited,” he added.
