JOHOR BAHRU – Former Johor Menteri Besar Datuk Dr Sahruddin Jamal announces his resignation as Perikatan Nasional (PN) Johor chairman.
The Bukit Kepong assemblyman shared the decision in his latest Facebook post.
Dr Sahruddin told reporters that the move followed the resignation of PN central chairman Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin.
“I hereby resign as PN Johor chairman. Losing the MB post, I accepted it; resigning as PN chairman is even easier,” he wrote.
He denied that any internal conflict in PN Johor prompted his resignation.
“PN Johor is fine, there is no turmoil. PN Johor is doing very well. We just held a meeting two weeks ago and it went smoothly. My resignation has nothing to do with Johor.
“For me, it is simple. I was appointed by Tan Sri (Muhyiddin). When he resigns, I also resign as PN Johor chairman. I now request the Muafakat Nasional (MN) leadership to appoint a new PN chairman in Johor.
“This decision follows Tan Sri’s (Muhyiddin) resignation. There are no changes in Pagoh Parliament or Bersatu Johor,” he said.
Dr Sahruddin was appointed chairman of the Perikatan Nasional Johor liaison body in June 2022.
