PETALING JAYA - Heavy rain in parts of Selangor this afternoon (Dec 30) caused flash flooding along the New Pantai Expressway (NPE), says Lembaga Lebuhraya Malaysia (LLM).
In a post on X, the LLM reported a flash flood on NPE@E10 at KM18.9 east-bound from the Taman Maju Jaya U-Turn.
“The left lane and centre lane are blocked. Traffic is slow. Watch out for any obstacles ahead,” LLM said.
The Taman Maju Jaya area is often a hotspot for flash floods and traffic congestion, especially near the U-turn towards Jalan Klang Lama.
According to the Meteorological Department’s website, several areas in Selangor and the Federal Territories are expected to experience heavy rain and thunderstorms until 6pm today.
The department also announced a significant weather forecast that shows the monsoon trough is expected to enter Malaysia from Dec 31, 2025 to Jan 5, 2026.
“This will bring continuous heavy rain in Sarawak as well as strong winds and rough seas in the South China Sea during that period. As such, a Continuous Rain Warning (Waspada) has been issued for Sarawak effective from Dec 31 2025 until 1 January 2026.
“The Strong Wind and Rough Sea Warning has also been updated until Jan 2 2026 for the South China Sea,” the department said.
