Muar MP Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman turned a New Year’s Eve countdown into a rom-com moment after making a heartfelt and public confession at the 2026 New Year countdown show at Sunway City, Iskandar Puteri and yes, the internet is still screaming.
The moment came right after singer and actress Bella Astillah wrapped up her performance, which had the crowd fully hyped as the clock edged closer to midnight.
Standing on stage as the clock ticked towards 2026, Syed Saddiq dropped what many fans are calling his soft launch, speaking about love, hopes and the woman standing beside him, Bella Astillah.
"Everyone has their own resolutions. In 2025, 2026 I have mine. That’s for Bella and her family to know and for my family to know. InsyaAllah, the time will come," he said.
If that was not enough, Syed Saddiq doubled down when asked what mattered most to him in the past year and he did not even pause.
"Meeting this wonderful woman beside me. It’s really not that hard to answer. If not, I wouldn’t be here wearing this shirt with this wonderful lady’s face on it," he said.
In a moment that felt straight out of a K-drama finale, the former youth and sports minister joked about his outfit, drawing laughter and applause from the crowd.
"If I had pom-poms, I would have lifted them. But since I don’t, I just put this woman’s face on my chest," he said.
For months, Syed Saddiq and Bella have been the talk of the town, with fans closely watching every public appearance, interaction and subtle hint.
Social media has been flooded with comments manifesting wedding bells, hashtags predicting a proposal and supporters openly rooting for the couple to take the next step.
While neither has made any official announcement, many believe 2026 could finally be the year, especially after Syed Saddiq hinted that "the time will come."
