In a statement released today, the AGC stated that the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) had conducted an exhaustive inquiry.

KUALA LUMPUR – The Attorney-General’s Chambers (AGC) has confirmed that the investigation into Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi regarding 47 charges of corruption and money laundering has reached a final conclusion with No Further Action (NFA) to be taken.

The charges, which involved criminal breach of trust (CBT) and the alleged misappropriation of funds from Yayasan Akalbudi, previously resulted in a discharge not amounting to an acquittal (DNAA) by the High Court on Sept 4, 2023.

In a statement released today, the AGC stated that the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) had conducted an exhaustive inquiry. 

This investigation scrutinised the origin of the foundation's funds, the legality of their acquisition and the specific ways in which the money was utilised.

“Following these findings, the department has concluded that no further legal proceedings will be pursued in this matter,” the AGC stated.

It emphasised that this resolution marks the definitive end of the case.

The decision was made in accordance with the discretionary powers granted to the Attorney-General under the Federal Constitution and existing legal frameworks.

“This decision consequently brings the case to a final conclusion, in line with the powers and discretion of the Attorney-General under the Federal Constitution and relevant laws,” the statement added.
