Umno Women’s chief Datuk Seri Dr Noraini Ahmad stressed that Umno practises mature politics - one that is courageous in facing challenges, firm in setting red lines and resolute in defending religion, race and the principles of the constitutional monarchy.

Noraini, who is also the Plantation and Commodities Minister, reminded party members that Umno must return to being a core party that leads, rather than merely follows.

KUALA LUMPUR – The political cooperation formed with Pakatan Harapan (PH) after the 15th General Election (GE15) does not mean that Umno has accepted the role of a subordinate party.

On the contrary, Umno Women’s chief Datuk Seri Dr Noraini Ahmad stressed that Umno practises mature politics - one that is courageous in facing challenges, firm in setting red lines and resolute in defending religion, race and the principles of the constitutional monarchy.

“This decision was not made hastily. Every risk was carefully considered and every opportunity was thoroughly examined.

“Cooperation does not mean submission. Negotiation does not mean surrender. Umno knows its boundaries, understands its principles and recognises its responsibilities.

“So do not be mistaken. This political cooperation does not mean that we are weak. Umno must regain its strength, remain relevant and continue to lead,” she said in her policy speech at the 2025 Umno General Assembly held at the World Trade Centre Kuala Lumpur on Thursday.

Meanwhile, Noraini, who is also the Plantation and Commodities Minister, reminded party members that Umno must return to being a core party that leads, rather than merely follows.

She emphasised that the party, led by Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, has its own proud history, extensive experience and a strong grassroots base.

“Political cooperation is highly dynamic. That is why we must be wise in managing relationships between parties.

“Therefore, Wanita Umno will continue to stand firm and give unwavering support to the president in steering this political cooperation,” she added.
