"DAP should be ashamed to have a leader like you."

SHAH ALAM - Umno Youth chief Datuk Dr Muhamad Akmal Saleh issued a stern statement against DAP Youth chief Woo Kah Leong following a critical post regarding his decision to resign as a Melaka state executive councillor (Exco).

In a Facebook post on Thursday, Dr Akmal stressed that, unlike individuals with integrity, the leader in question lacked honour.

“This is not about saying one thing and doing another. The words of a person with honour are different from those of someone without honour like you. DAP should be ashamed to have a leader like you - talk a lot but afraid of losing your position,” he said.

Dr Akmal’s statement was in response to an earlier post by Woo, who criticised his decision and reminded the Merlimau state assemblyman that the “real enemy” was Perikatan Nasional (PN), which seized Umno seats in the last general election.

Earlier, Dr Akmal announced that he would step down as Melaka State Executive Councillor for Rural Development and Food Security, effective next week, to allow him to take on DAP head-on.

Speaking at the Umno Youth Assembly on Thursday, he was reported as saying that the decision was based on principles and personal honour.

Dr Akmal’s move drew praise from his counterpart in PAS, Afnan Hamimi Taib Azamudden, who offered cooperation in confronting a common enemy.
