KUALA LUMPUR — Umno Wanita chief Datuk Seri Noraini Ahmad delivered a pointed message to members of Puteri Umno, urging her 'younger sisters' to revisit and truly understand the original purpose behind the wing's formation.
In her winding-up speech at the 2025 Umno General Assembly, Noraini addressed Puteri delegates as her “younger sisters”, stressing that the spirit of struggle that gave birth to the wing must never fade.
"My younger sisters from Puteri, learn and comprehen why Puteri was formed. The fight is never fade," she said, drawing applause from the floor.
Noraini, who previously served in Puteri Umno’s early leadership, reminded delegates that her political roots were shaped within the movement itself.
"I want to state it here, I am from the Puteri Umno factory. I was among those alongside Datuk Seri Azalina Othman Said," she said, recalling those formative years.
Noraini said she still clearly remembered and understood the aspirations that drove the establishment of Puteri Umno, a platform created to nurture young female leaders and ensure continuity within the party.
“I still remember and understand Puteri's aspiration," she said, while signalling that she did not wish to dwell further on internal debates.
Her remarks were widely interpreted as advice, and a subtle reminder, to Puteri leaders to stay grounded in the wing’s founding principles, especially amid ongoing generational shifts and internal challenges within Umno.
Noraini also struck a firm note on unity among women in the party, insisting that Wanita Umno would remain steadfast and resilient.
Reaffirming Wanita Umno’s role within the party, she also stressed that the responsibility of safeguarding the party's future did not rest on one wing alone.
"Umno is our responsibility together. Wanita is the pulse that ensure Umno continues to stay alive," she added.
