The Ayer Hitam MP confirmed that he was admitted on Monday and is currently under close observation.

JOHOR BAHRU – MCA President Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong is currently receiving hospital treatment after developing a lung infection on Jan 19.

The Ayer Hitam MP confirmed that he was admitted on Monday and is currently under close observation. His intensive treatment is expected to last approximately one week.

In a Facebook post on Wednesday, Wee provided an update on his health: “I am currently undergoing treatment in hospital due to a lung infection. I was admitted on Jan 19 and am now receiving close monitoring and treatment, which is estimated to last about a week."

Due to his condition, Wee confirmed he would be absent from the current parliamentary proceedings.

“During this period, I am unable to attend the Dewan Rakyat sitting. I have informed the Honourable Tan Sri Speaker regarding this matter," he said.

He also expressed his regrets to organisers of several upcoming events.

“At the same time, I would like to apologise for being unable to fulfil invitations to programmes that were scheduled earlier,” he added.

Wee expressed his appreciation to all parties who have offered prayers and well-wishes for his recovery during his period of illness.
