KUANTAN – AEON has officially marked its entry into the Pahang retail market with the opening of its first supermarket in Kuantan, providing residents with a modern new destination for groceries and daily essentials.
The 49,331-square-foot outlet, located on Level 2 of East Coast Mall, is strategically designed to serve the growing population of Kuantan and its surrounding districts.
The opening ceremony was officiated by the Pahang State Executive Councillor for Felda Affairs, Cooperative and Entrepreneur Development Datuk Amizar Abu Adam, alongside members of the AEON Leadership Council.
The launch reflected AEON’s ongoing regional expansion while supporting local economic activity and the development of the state's retail sector.
AEON Deputy Managing Director Tsugutoshi Seko highlighted the strategic importance of the new location, noting that it strengthens AEON’s regional network alongside its existing presence at AEON Mall Kota Bharu.
"AEON is confident in the performance of East Coast Mall due to its central location and stable footfall. We expect our presence here to significantly enhance the retail landscape of the East Coast," Seko said in a statement.
The supermarket offers a comprehensive range of fresh produce, quality seafood and household essentials.
To cater to modern consumer preferences, the store features popular ready-to-eat sections, including AEON Delicatessen, Coco Cafe and the La Boheme bakery.
To improve operational efficiency, the store is equipped with the latest retail technology, including:
- Smart Trolleys for a seamless shop-and-go experience.
- Self-checkout counters to reduce queuing times.
- myAEON2go service, offering convenient delivery and pick-up options.
The Kuantan opening is part of a broader asset enhancement strategy. Following the launch of the AEON STYLE Supermarket at Setia EcoHill in December 2025, several new outlets are slated for 2026, including AEON KL Midtown at KL Metropolis and a new AEON STYLE in Johor Bahru.
AEON is also currently refurbishing selected stores nationwide to modernise the shopping environment.
Demonstrating its commitment to corporate social responsibility, the Malaysian AEON Foundation (MAF) donated RM30,000 during the event to three charitable organisations: Pertubuhan Kebajikan Baitul Husna, Rumah Anak-Anak Yatim Permata Camar, and Rapha Children’s Home.
