FARIDABAD – A man in Faridabad, Haryana, has been accused of punching and beating his four-year-old daughter to death after she failed to count to 50 during a home lesson.
The incident reportedly occurred on Jan 21 while the suspect was teaching his daughter at their residence.
Police stated that the man became enraged when the child failed to meet the counting target, assaulting her until she lost consciousness.
Minutes later, the suspect took the girl to a nearby government hospital, where doctors confirmed she was dead on arrival.
In an attempt to conceal the crime, the suspect initially told his wife that their daughter had died after falling down the stairs while playing.
However, when the mother arrived at the hospital, she noticed multiple suspicious injuries on the child’s body and immediately lodged a police report.
Upon questioning by the police, the suspect reportedly confessed to the act.
He pointed out that he had been teaching the child at home as she was not currently attending school.
He admitted to assaulting the girl in a fit of rage after she struggled to count to 50.
The couple, both employees at a private company, had been living in a rented house in Jharsentali village, Faridabad, for several years.
They have three children; a seven-year-old boy, a two-year-old girl and the four-year-old victim.
The suspect is currently being held in custody for further investigation and prosecution under relevant Indian laws.
Police are continuing to gather additional evidence to ensure a robust case is presented before the court.
