REMBAU - Ten detainees (OKT) were injured after the 'Black Maria' truck they were travelling in lost control and overturned at the traffic-light junction along Jalan Seremban–Tampin near Pekan Rembau on Wednesday.
Rembau Deputy District Police Chief Deputy Superintendent Azmi Ali said the incident occurred at about 9.40am while the truck was on its way from Seremban Prison to the Rembau Court.
“The detainees, along with five escorting officers in a multi-purpose vehicle (MPV), were heading to the Rembau Court to apply for detention warrants.
“However, while turning right at the location, the truck lost control and overturned, causing four detainees to be injured while six others suffered minor injuries,” he said on Wednesday.
Azmi said the injured detainees were taken to Hospital Rembau by ambulance along with two escorting officers and an MPV escort for further treatment.
He added that following the incident, the Escort Guard Branch of the Rembau District Police Headquarters (IPD) and the traffic unit arrived at the scene to provide initial assistance.
