SEPANG - Three men were charged at the Sessions Court here today for allegedly being members of an organised crime group known as the Captain Praba Gang.

No plea was recorded from the accused after the charges were read in Tamil before Judge Ahmad Fuad Othman, as organised crime cases fall under the jurisdiction of the High Court.

They were accused of being members of the organised criminal group 'Geng Captain Praba' in Jenjarom, Kuala Langat, between December 2023 and September 2025.

The charge was framed under Section 130V(1) of the Penal Code, which carries a maximum penalty of 20 years' imprisonment upon conviction.

The prosecution was led by deputy public prosecutors Shafiq Hasim, V V Suloshani and Lina Hanini Ismail, while the accused were represented by lawyer Sean Dudley.

The court denied them bail and ordered the case transferred to the Shah Alam High Court for mention.

The three men, who are also the main suspects in 'Ops Jack Sparrow', were apprehended in Mumbai, India, on Sunday before being repatriated this morning.

On Sept 11, police launched a multi-state operation, codenamed 'Ops Jack Sparrow', targeting the gang, which reportedly has 33 members and is led by an individual known as 'Captain Praba'.

They are believed to be involved in various violent crimes, including murder, assault with dangerous weapons, gang robbery and arson. - BERNAMA
