SHAH ALAM - A bullying case involving a student at Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Labu Besar in Kulim, Kedah has drawn the attention of senior authorities after the victim’s family raised the matter directly with the Home Minister and the Kedah police chief.
The issue surfaced during a walkabout session by Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution with residents in the area, where the student’s family sought his intervention over the alleged bullying incident.
During the encounter, Saifuddin expressed concern over the safety of primary school pupils, particularly after being informed that the incident allegedly involved violence and possible weapons.
In a video recording of the exchange, the minister questioned the student to assess the severity of the case.
“They brought knives too? They hid them in their bags? Was it a knife or a stick? Where did they hit you? Did this happen outside the school gate?” he asked.
According to preliminary information, the student claimed he was bullied by several other pupils, resulting in severe emotional distress. The trauma reportedly caused the child to refuse to return to school.
The victim’s father told authorities that his son feared the bullying would recur, highlighting the lasting psychological impact of the alleged incident.
Kedah police chief Datuk Adzli Abu Shah later confirmed that the police were treating the case seriously and said further investigations would be carried out at the school.
“That won’t do. We need to get him back to school. We will resolve this matter,” he said.
In an effort to reassure the child, Adzli adopted a more personal approach, telling the student he could mention the police chief’s name if he encountered further problems.
“If it gets difficult, just mention Atuk’s name,” he said.
The interaction was recorded and uploaded on TikTok by user @misiupdate, where it quickly gained widespread attention, drawing public focus to the bullying issue and the response by authorities.
