SEREMBAN - A nasi kandar restaurant in the district has been alleged to have washed leftover food that had already been served to customers before reusing it the following day.
The allegation was shared by a social media user who claimed to have personally witnessed the act behind the premises at about 12.18pm on Tuesday.
“I saw a worker washing leftover food such as chicken, mutton and tofu, which were clearly remnants of cooked dishes, before separating them into trays,” the user said.
He also confronted the worker over the practice and was told that the leftovers were washed and reused the next day.
He described the act as unacceptable and a serious risk to public health.
“At first, another worker tried to mislead me with an untruthful explanation, but eventually let it slip and admitted that the food would indeed be cooked again and claimed it was ‘not dangerous’.
“I want to stress that this practice is completely unethical, unsafe and extremely disgusting,” he said.
He added that he hoped authorities would take firm action, believing that such practices were not a first-time occurrence at the restaurant.
“I urge the public to share this post so more people are aware and incidents like this do not continue and endanger other consumers,” he said.
Meanwhile, Negeri Sembilan Health Department director Dr Zuraida Mohamed, when contacted by Sinar Harian, said she would instruct her officers to investigate the allegation.
