“For the past two days, Dr Mahathir has been granted ‘home leave’ to his residence at The Mines,” he said in a statement on Friday.

He added that the IJN medical team is satisfied with the progress of Dr Mahathir’s recovery and his response to medical procedures and physiotherapy.

“Although he is gradually allowed to return home, Dr Mahathir remains under the supervision of the IJN medical team.

“Doctors are still advising Dr Mahathir not to receive visitors other than immediate family for the time being,” he said.

Dr Mahathir was rushed to IJN on Jan 6 to receive treatment after falling at his home.

He was confirmed to have fractured his right hip and the recovery process is expected to take a long time due to his age.
