"So far JMG Perak has not received any complaints. There are only postings on social media,” he told Bernama when contacted today.

Nizarulikram said the alleged explosions were also not caused by quarry activities, as blasting operations are only allowed between noon and 5 pm from Monday to Friday.

Meanwhile, Ipoh district police chief ACP Abang Zainal Abidin Abang Ahmad said the police are still verifying the alleged explosion sounds that have gone viral on social media since early this morning and will inform if any reports are lodged by any parties.

On June 18, 2025, an explosion-like sound and tremors were reportedly felt in several areas around Ipoh, but the cause has yet to be identified.

On Oct 21, 2024, a strong tremor was felt in several parts of the city, including Tasek, Stadium Perak, Meru, Falim, Manjoi, Chemor and Sungai Siput at about 11.06 am, followed by a loud boom.

Similar mysterious booms in Ipoh were recorded in 2012 and 2018 and were confirmed not to be caused by quarry blasting or jet aircraft bomb tests. - BERNAMA
