SUNGAI BESAR – Sungai Besar Umno division chief Datuk Seri Jamal Md Yunos claims he raised RM66,000 by auctioning one of his slippers and a towel to settle an outstanding judgment cost of RM66,061.85 owed to Seputeh MP Teresa Kok.
Jamal said the auction was held following court action against him over the claim.
A scheduled court auction of other belongings, however, was postponed after one of his children obtained a last-minute stay order.
“There was supposed to be a court auction today over the RM66,000 claim, but yesterday my child managed to secure a postponement,” he said in a Facebook video on Wednesday.
He said two bidders, from Negeri Sembilan and Sabah, took part in the auction.
According to Jamal, the slipper was sold for RM33,000 while the towel also attracted a bid, bringing the total to RM66,000.
He claimed the bidder of the slipper intended to frame the item before sending it to Teresa’s office, with payment expected to be completed on Wednesday.
Jamal said auctioning his personal items was an effort to restore his dignity following the court order that led to enforcement action at his residence.
He also made a sarcastic remark suggesting Teresa use the money to start a small-scale pig farming project at her home.
On Jan 28, Teresa served a seizure notice at Jamal’s residence in Ampang and forced open the kitchen door before replacing the lock.
Earlier, Teresa had obtained a High Court order to seize Jamal’s movable assets to recover the outstanding judgment sum of RM66,061.85 in unpaid costs.
The writ of seizure and sale was issued with Teresa named as the judgment creditor and Jamal as the judgment debtor.
