KAJANG – A woman has been arrested for allegedly giving her three children a dangerous liquid believed to be methadone, an incident that resulted in the death of one of them.
Selangor Police Chief Datuk Shazeli Kahar confirmed that the suspect was detained on Wednesday to assist in investigations.
“The suspect has been arrested for further investigation in connection with the case,” he said.
Sinar previously reported that an 11-year-old boy died, while his two younger siblings, aged nine and five, are currently receiving treatment in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) after they were believed to have consumed methadone at a house in Sungai Ramal.
The incident came to light after all three children were rushed to hospital in an unconscious state.
Police are understood to have received information about the case at 9.01am following a report lodged by a medical officer from Hospital Tengku Permaisuri Norashikin (HTPN).
Earlier, the hospital had admitted three male child patients at 7.50am for emergency treatment after they were found unconscious.
The 11-year-old was later pronounced dead, while his five-year-old brother remains in the ICU. The third child is being treated in the Red Zone of the hospital’s Emergency Unit.
