KAJANG - The 11-year-old boy who died in an alleged methadone poisoning case in Sungai Ramal Baru here on Wednesday had written a note to his friends prior to the incident.
The revelation was shared by his uncle in the comment section of a TikTok post, who claimed the boy wrote the letter while playing with his friends.
“He wrote a thank-you note for being his friends. His friends told me about it. He was also the type who liked to treat his friends.
“After that, he told them that he would die first, as if he somehow knew he was going to leave,” said the uncle, who used the name hiddenbabyyeah.
The uncle said the family denied allegations that the child was intentionally given a harmful substance. Instead, they believed the incident may have resulted from confusion between two medicine bottles with similar appearances and white labels.
He added that the boy’s mother was extremely exhausted at the time after undergoing physiotherapy treatment at a hospital.
“My sister didn’t realise it was a different medicine because the bottle and label looked similar, both white, so she assumed it was the same,” he claimed.
He also claimed that three of the four siblings consumed the medication, while the eldest brother did not and was unharmed.
In the latest development, the two younger brothers, who are being treated in the intensive care unit (ICU), were reported to be in critical but stable condition and have regained consciousness.
It was reported that the 11-year-old died while his two younger brothers were hospitalised after they were allegedly given a harmful liquid believed to be methadone.
The case came to light after the three children were rushed to Hospital Tengku Permaisuri Norashikin at about 7.50am in an unconscious state.
Selangor police chief Datuk Shazeli Kahar said the Kajang district police headquarters received information from a medical officer at about 9.01am regarding three boys brought to the Emergency Department.
Preliminary investigations found that the 11-year-old died while being transported to the hospital, while his brothers, aged around 10 and five, remain in the ICU.
Police have since detained the children’s parents, aged 35 and 44, to assist in investigations.
The case is being investigated under Section 31(1)(a) of the Child Act 2001.
