TAIPING – Two men were injured after a Perodua Myvi crashed into a Chinese restaurant in Taman Kota Jaya here on Tuesday.

Perak Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) Operations Division assistant director Sabarodzi Nor Ahmad said they received an emergency call regarding the incident at about 10am.

A team from the Taiping Fire and Rescue Station was dispatched to the scene, located about seven kilometres from the station and arrived at 10.15am.

“A Perodua Myvi driven by a 69-year-old man with disabilities is believed to have lost control and crashed into a Chinese restaurant.

“The incident resulted in two men, believed to be in their 50s, who were inside the restaurant sustaining injuries,” he said in a statement on Tuesday.

He said members of the public had already pulled the victims out from beneath the vehicle before firefighters arrived at the scene.

The victims sustained injuries to the head, legs and hands and were handed over to the Health Ministry for further treatment.

However, he said the driver of the vehicle was reported to be safe.

The operation involved seven personnel along with a fire engine and the Fire Motorcycle Unit. The situation was brought under control at 10.20am and the operation was fully concluded at 10.30am.
