KUALA LUMPUR - A robber died after he was shot by a security guard while trying to rob a gold shop in Section 14, Petaling Jaya this morning.
Petaling Jaya district police chief Shamsudin Mamat said the man died while on the way to hospital for treatment.
"I confirm the incident and the autopsy is being carried out. A media statement will be issued shortly,” he said when contacted today.
Meanwhile, a source informed that the suspect, who was armed with a sharp object, had been seriously injured when he was shot while trying to rob the gold shop at about 11 am.
The suspect was believed to have come to the sop by motorcycle and entered the shop, which was empty as it had just opened.
The suspect is believed to have been involved in a scuffle with a security guard before another security guard realised the situation and fired two rounds in the direction of the suspect, they added. - BERNAMA
