MILAN – The murder case of a female model in Italy has taken a more tragic turn after the victim’s head was reportedly cut off and stolen from her coffin while her body was being prepared for reburial.
The victim, Pamela Genini, 29, an entrepreneur who had also appeared on a reality TV show, was previously found dead after being stabbed on the balcony of her home in Milan in October last year.
According to authorities, the murder was allegedly carried out by her 52-year-old ex-boyfriend, who was believed to have harassed and pleaded with her to get back together after their relationship ended.
The latest incident came to light last Monday when cemetery workers noticed the coffin could not be properly closed and that some screws were loose.
When the coffin was opened, they were shocked to find that the victim’s head was missing.
Further checks found new damage on the coffin, suggesting it had been tampered with, even though the body had been buried for about five months.
Police suspect that three to four individuals were involved in disturbing the remains, but the exact motive is still unknown.
The case is now being investigated as corpse desecration and theft of body parts, which carries a prison sentence of up to seven years.
In the earlier murder, the victim was reportedly stabbed more than 24 times.
The main suspect is believed to have entered her home using a duplicate key he still had.
Before the incident, the victim had sent a message to a friend expressing fear of the suspect. Screams for help were also heard before she was found dead.
The suspect is currently in custody and faces charges of stalking and murdering his ex-girlfriend. – AGENCY
