KLANG – A man under investigation for allegedly driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs, causing a fatal crash along Jalan Raya Barat here, was brought to the magistrate’s court on Wednesday.
The suspect, in his 20s and wearing a white collared T-shirt, arrived at 8.53am escorted by police.
On Tuesday, Klang Selatan district police chief Assistant Commissioner Lim Jit Huey confirmed that the suspect would be charged in connection with the incident.
On Sunday, a motorcyclist was killed after being hit by a car driven by an individual believed to be under the influence of alcohol and drugs in a three-vehicle crash at Jalan Raya Barat, Klang, at 11.40am.
Preliminary investigations found that the car, driven by a man in his 20s, was believed to have overtaken several vehicles before crashing into the victim’s motorcycle.
The impact threw the victim, a local man in his 30s, onto a Perodua Myvi before he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Following the incident, a man was arrested and remanded for four days to assist in investigations.
Lim said the case was being investigated under Section 44(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 and Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
