Amirudin to head Malaysia aid mission, flotilla to Gaza

The Menteri Besar’s Office said the mission will transport 30 containers carrying 374 tonnes of humanitarian aid to support Palestinians facing worsening conditions in Gaza.

SHAH ALAM - Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari has been tasked with leading Malaysia’s Emergency Aid Mission to Gaza and the Global Sumud Flotilla 2.0 on behalf of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

The Menteri Besar’s Office said the mission will transport 30 containers carrying 374 tonnes of humanitarian aid to support Palestinians facing worsening conditions in Gaza.

The mission is organised by the Malaysian Islamic Organisations Consultative Council, with Amirudin scheduled to depart tomorrow to lead the delegation.

“Among the main tasks include ensuring the release of the aid containers in Cairo proceeds smoothly and safely, as well as leading a special conference at the Rafah Border Gate to express Malaysia’s firm stance on the blockade of Gaza.

“He is also scheduled to monitor the departure of the Sumud Nusantara Delegation at the Port of Barcelona, Spain,” the statement said.

The public has also been encouraged to pray for the mission’s success, as the responsibilities involved are considered both challenging and high-risk.

“Selangor and Malaysia will continue to assert their stance in championing justice for the Palestinian people who are still facing oppression and blockade by the Zionist Israeli regime,” the statement added.
