Police arrest 43 men over Cheras entertainment centre attack

KUALA LUMPUR - A total of 43 men, including the alleged mastermind, have been arrested for suspected involvement in trespassing and vandalising an entertainment centre in Cheras here last Sunday.

It is understood that the Kuala Lumpur police have applied for remand orders against 35 of them, who are currently held at the Brickfields District Police Headquarters (IPD) lock-up, along with another suspect whose remand has been extended.

Meanwhile, seven other individuals have reportedly been released on police bail.

All those detained, aged between their 20s and 40s, were arrested around the Klang Valley from Monday until early Wednesday morning.

The operation also saw the seizure of a lorry believed to have been used in the attack.

During the arrests, police also confiscated weapons allegedly used by the suspects, including iron rods and wooden sticks.

Earlier, a group of masked individuals rammed through the premises’ gate using a lorry before trespassing and smashing items inside the entertainment centre in Cheras.

The dramatic incident was captured on the premises’ closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras, with the footage later going viral on social media.
