KUALA PILAH – A family dispute at Taman Air Mawang, Johol, here on Thursday escalated into a fight between two siblings, leaving both injured.
Kuala Pilah district police chief Muhamad Mustafah Hussin said police received information about the incident at around 3.49pm.
“Initial information was received via a phone call from a member of the public reporting a fight at a house in the residential area.
“Preliminary investigations found the incident stemmed from a misunderstanding among family members involving personal matters,” he said in a statement on Friday.
He said the 27-year-old male victim had gone to his family home before an argument and fight broke out.
He added that the suspect, who is the victim’s elder brother, arrived at the scene armed with a machete and attacked him.
“The act led to a struggle between them, resulting in injuries to both parties.
“The victim sustained injuries to his left wrist and is currently receiving treatment at Hospital Tuanku Ampuan Najihah, Kuala Pilah, while the suspect suffered minor injuries to his hand and has been treated as an outpatient,” he said.
He added that the suspect has been arrested to assist in further investigations.
The case is being investigated under Section 324 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt with a weapon.
He also advised the public not to speculate in ways that could disrupt the investigation.
