SUNGAI BULOH: Police are hunting for a Pakistani remand detainee who escaped from the prison here on Thursday.
Sungai Buloh district police chief Supt Mohd Hafiz Muhammad Nor said police received a report on the incident and immediately launched an operation to track down and recapture the detainee.
"The detainee was last seen wearing an orange T-shirt and black long pants," he said in a statement on Friday (April 10).
He added that the man, identified as Muhammad Hassan, 24, is facing several charges, including under Sections 377C (intercourse against the order of nature) and 392 (robbery) of the Penal Code, as well as immigration-related offences.
He advised the public to remain vigilant as the detainee has a history of sexual offences against children.
"Those with information on the suspect’s whereabouts are urged to contact investigating officer Insp Muhendran Chandra at 010-4304383 or Insp Azamuddin at 016-5661597.
"They can also contact the Sungai Buloh district police headquarters at 03-61561222 or any nearest police station," he said.
He also advised the public not to spread unverified information or speculate, as it could disrupt police operations and cause public anxiety. - THE STAR
