PUTRAJAYA - Civil servants have been reminded not to upload photos or social media content that could create negative perceptions during working from home (WFH) arrangements.
Home Ministry secretary-general Datuk Awang Alik Jeman said disciplinary action will be taken against any officer found abusing the WFH arrangement, which could tarnish the image of the civil service.
“While working from home, do not upload photos or posts on social media that may suggest we are not performing our duties. For example, posting pictures of playing badminton, shopping at malls and so on. If it happens, action will still be taken without exception,” he said at the Home Ministry’s monthly assembly on Monday (April 13).
He stressed that WFH arrangements must not be used as an excuse for civil servants to fail in meeting performance targets, adding that productivity and service delivery to the public must not be compromised.
Awang also said several agencies under the Home Ministry, including the police, Prisons Department, Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA), Malaysia Border Control and Protection Agency (AKPS), National Anti-Drug Agency (AADK), National Registration Department (JPN), Eastern Sabah Security Command (Esscom) and Rela, are not involved in the WFH arrangement.
He added that the Cabinet had agreed to implement the WFH policy starting Wednesday (April 15). - THE STAR
