GEORGE TOWN - Heightened security was present at the Certified Integrity Officer (CeIO) Convocation Ceremony attended by Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) chief commissioner Tan Sri Azam Baki at the Bangi Avenue Convention Centre here on Tuesday (April 14).

Security personnel from MACC’s Special Tactical Squad (ACTS) were stationed at every entrance, with additional support from auxiliary police and the Royal Malaysia Police.

The ceremony, which began at 8.30am, proceeded without any untoward incidents.

Members of the media were required to register and were issued special passes to cover the event.

Also present were members of the Certified Integrity Officer Accreditation Board (LPPIB) and senior MACC officers.

The tight security was understood to be aimed at preventing a repeat of a disturbance during a discourse session at the World Trade Centre Kuala Lumpur on April 7.

In the incident at about 2.45pm, two men approached Azam while holding banners and shouting.

The situation turned tense when one of them shouted and attempted to rush towards the stage.
