A theatre performance allegedly staged at UM had gone viral after featuring a scene with indecent elements, drawing mixed reactions from the public.

Earlier, UM in a statement issued an apology for the oversight and said it would not compromise on any violation of programme guidelines or regulations set.

According to the university, the investigation found that the scene was not part of the original script that had undergone a vetting process and constituted a clear violation of the competition conditions.

Under the general conditions and regulations of the Universiti Malaya Karniva Teater (Karviter) competition, each performance must be free from negative elements, provocation, or any content that could affect religious values, morals, ethics, culture, and the university’s good name. – BERNAMA
