SHAH ALAM - Former Bersatu information chief Datuk Wan Saiful Wan Jan has signalled openness to joining Pas amid ongoing uncertainty surrounding the political direction of Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin and his aligned group following their exit from Bersatu.

He indicated that any decision on future political alignment would be made collectively, expressing confidence in Hamzah’s consultative approach to leadership.

“Hamzah is a team player. I am confident that when he makes a decision, he will discuss it with all of us involved and we will decide together.

“I think many parties are inviting Hamzah (to join them) because his sincerity and leadership capabilities are evident to everyone.

“So I would not be surprised if Hamzah is accepted by Pas. As for me, I am open to all options (that will be finalised),” he told Sinar.

Wan Saiful, who was previously a lifetime Pas member said the situation could serve as a test of Bersatu’s principles, particularly if Hamzah decides to align himself with Pas.

He suggested that such a move would reveal whether Bersatu genuinely upholds its commitment to the unity of the ‘ummah’.

“If they block (Hamzah’s entry), it means Bersatu has become merely a ‘vehicle’ for its president, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin and secretary-general Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali, to seize power.

“We all know Muhyiddin is still obsessed with the Prime Minister’s position and Azmin needs Muhyiddin for his political survival.

“The attitude shown by Bersatu will determine the perception of whether it is a party of struggle or simply one that exists to elevate Muhyiddin,” he claimed.

The remarks come amid growing calls within political circles for Pas to consider strengthening its ranks ahead of the next general election.

Federal Territories Reset coordinator Datuk Muhamad Muqharabbin Mokhtarrudin recently proposed that Hamzah’s inclusion could enhance Perikatan Nasional’s (PN) appeal by broadening support across diverse communities.

Similarly, Ketereh MP Datuk Khlir Mohd Nor has expressed willingness to follow Hamzah should he make the move.

However, Bersatu has maintained a firm stance of non-interference in Hamzah’s next steps.

“As stated by the Bersatu President in Terengganu yesterday, we do not care where Hamzah and his group want to go.

“Hamzah and his followers are no longer Bersatu members. It is up to them where they wish to go,” said party information chief Datuk Tun Faisal Ismail Aziz.

He also issued a caution to any party considering taking in Hamzah and his supporters, alleging concerns over their adherence to party discipline.

On a personal level, Faisal added that Hamzah no longer carries significant influence among party leaders following his removal as Bersatu deputy president.
